Summer home in Salento, Italy | Ludovica+Roberto Palomba

Italian designers Ludovica & Roberto Palomba have turned a 17th century oil mill into their summer home in Salento, in the southeastern part of Italy.

The acclaimed designers couple has collaborated on a number of projects, including bathroom equipment, kitchens, furniture, and lighting for companies such as Boffi, Cappellini, Driade, Salviati, Foscarini, and Zanotta. Their holiday retreat is a work of art in itself.

The original interior retains its raw spirit, with its stone walls, floors and arches remaining intact, becoming a huge asset to the overall mood. Interior furnishings are an eclectic meld of locally crafted works, family inherited items such as an old armoire and the designers’ pieces of contemporary design.

Windows, skylights, a patio and an upper courtyard fill the space with light, creating a peaceful and serene atmosphere, where modern meets ancient.
