Rex Kralj Collection | Niko Kralj

Simplicitylove was familiar with these simple, iconic foldable lounge chairs from the 50's and the 60’s, but only recently was introduced to the full series and the amazing design world of Rex Kralj and the work of famous Slovene architect and designer prof. Niko Kralj.

Niko Kralj was friends and shared his visions with contemporaries Ilmari Tapiovaara, Ferdinand Kramer, Richard Buckminster Fuller and with Charles and Ray Eames.

The design of these chairs, like the iconic Rex Lounge Chair, remains contemporary and minimalist after 60 years of history. They are included in the collection of design museums like MoMA, Designmuseum in Copenhagen, MAK Museum in Vienna or Museum for Industrial Design in Prague. Production is based in Slovenia, at the same facility which produces for Varier and Stokke.

Basic material is beech, but designs are produced also in American walnut and teak (made out of 100% responsibly harvested teak wood for outdoor use).
